As a Cloud Security Engineer, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based security solutions under the guidance of senior engineers. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern cloud environments while ensuring the security and compliance of critical infrastructure. You will assist with developing, enforcing, and documenting security best practices and configurations aligned with industry standards (CMMC, CIS, NIST, ISO 27001).

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Security Support
  • Assist in implementing secure network, system, and software configurations across Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
  • Support the development and enforcement of cloud hardening policies, standards, and procedures based on frameworks such as CMMC, NIST SP 800 series, and ISO 27001.
  • Collaborate on projects involving zero-trust security models, including identity-based access controls and data protection solutions.
Identity & Access Management (IAM)
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of identity and access solutions in environments such as Microsoft Entra ID and Google Cloud Identity.
  • Help troubleshoot IAM-related issues and ensure proper access configurations.
Network Security
  • Assist with configuring Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewalls, and Web Application Firewalls (WAF) to secure cloud resources.
  • Learn and support the deployment of Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) for advanced threat protection.
Endpoint Security
  • Help enforce endpoint compliance using tools like Microsoft Intune.
  • Assist with deploying endpoint protection solutions such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
Data Protection & Compliance
  • Work with senior engineers to implement and monitor data protection solutions like Azure Information Protection (AIP).
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with standards like ITAR, DFARS, and GDPR by maintaining accurate data classification and retention practices.
Threat Detection & Incident Response
  • Help monitor Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions like Microsoft Sentinel or Splunk.
  • Contribute to threat modeling exercises and risk assessments for cloud services.
Project Support & Learning
  • Support cloud migration projects, including tasks such as preparing data for migration, assisting with implementation, and documenting configurations.
  • Shadow and assist in training sessions on AvePoint tools, Microsoft Power BI dashboards, and SharePoint solutions.
  • Assist with creating and deploying Power BI dashboards to deliver actionable insights.

Qualifications:

This position requires applicants to have current, interim eligibility or previous security clearance.

  • Candidates must have held or currently hold a clearance, or have documented eligibility based on a favorable background investigation.
  • Interim clearances will be accepted for consideration.

  • U.S. citizenship is required by federal regulation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work/military experience.
  • Up to 3 years of experience in IT, cybersecurity, or cloud computing.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud environments, including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, and DFARS.
  • Understanding of basic networking principles and security concepts.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), or AWS Cloud Practitioner.
  • Experience with tools like Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, or SentinelOne.
  • Exposure to AvePoint Fly Migration Tool and SharePoint management is a plus.
